Amador Wine Country

Dillian Wines

Dillian Wines is a small family winery specializing in Zinfandel, Barbera and Primitivo. Owner Tom Dillian has been growing high-quality grapes in Amador County for over 30 years. The winery tasting room is modeled after the home built by Tom's grandfather in the early 1900s and sits on property owned by the Dillians since 1917. The Dillian family, their fine wines and gracious hospitality remain Amador County trademarks. Dillian Wines is a small family winery specializing in Zinfandel, Barbera and Primitivo.

Wilderotter Vineyard & Winery

The scenery is great, there is outdoor seating for a picnic and a fabulous bottle of wine to accompany it. Beautiful tasting room and a wonderful selection of wines. If you like white wine you are in for a treat with the viognier, sauvignon blanc and chardonnay. On the red side they have tempranillo, barbera, syrah, mourvedre and zin.

Story Winery

Driving up, the place is quite understated. Once you walk around the side of the tasting room and see the view you have to just stop and admire the beauty. Easily one of the best views in the entire valley! Going inside the tasting room you're greeted by a very personable staff. They all have genuine smiles on their faces and welcome you in. The tasting menu is well balanced here with a nice selection of red and white wines that should work for most any taste.

Karly Winery

The winery started as a hobby in 1978, and then evolved into a business for ex-fighter pilot Buck Cobb who named it for his wife Karly. Karly Wines was one of the four original wineries in the Shenandoah Valley of Amador. Amador County producer of Zinfandel, Mediterranean varietals, Sauvignon Blanc, and dessert wines.

Scott Harvey Wines - Plymouth

Scott Harvey doesn't have a typical tasting room in Napa, they are located in Amador county. If you are lucky enough to get a hold of Scott, you will visit his home that he shares with his wife Jana and be treated to a low-key conversational tasting. Both Scott and Jana are wonderful warm people who you will love to chat with. Scott is an experienced winemaker with lots of history and knowledge. Oh, and don't forget his great wines!

Amador Cellars

Amador Cellars is a unique winery located in the heart of Amador County's lush Shenandoah Valley wine country. Built in 2003 of rice straw and concrete the winery and tasting room conveys Old World architecture and style that emphasizes simplicity, utility and function. Its two foot thick and sixteen foot tall walls impart mass and depth while the roof is covered in corrugated steel that was allowed to rust naturally giving the structure a timeless quality. Amador Cellars focus their attention on varieties that do well in Amador’s warm climate -- Zinfandel, Italian and Rhone Valley varieties.

Jeff Runquist Wines

The strongest line-up of red wines in the Amador County. Just that simple and straightforward. Jeff history in Paso Robles winemaking shows up in his product here. Big. Bold Varietal flavors. Huge Palate. Strong finish. Complexity enough for everyone, but not edgy and overpowering. A true gem in Amador! Jeff Runquist is an amazing wine maker and he utilizes grapes not only from Amador but all over Ca. Open Friday through Sunday 11-5 Limos and large groups by appointment only.

Sobon Estate

All of Amador County is pretty laid back for their tastings. Sobon is one of the more welcoming wineries. You can tell they (and those at the sister winery, Shenandoah) really love wine, the location, and meeting new people. They wines are tasty too! They are probably the most popular winery in Plymouth. They are like Livermore's Wente winery of Amador: popular, but not the best in the biz. No, wait. I disagree with my earlier Self. The service is great here, and though I'm not a fan of ALL of their wines, their Tannat was good. We will make another trip after the holidays and ask to taste all their reserve wines.

BellaGrace Vineyards

BellaGrace, like many other Plymouth wineries, is lovely and sophisticated without pretension. I must say that I am always pleased with the friendly service and warm greetings we receive when we arrive. Their 2010 Barbera is a multi-award winner. I have to say that this is a must-have! I've rarely tasted anything like it. Super friendly staff here, and the owner was very nice as well. The wine cave was worth checking out, and its cool temperature was a haven from the summer heat. And...tasting is free! Wine Cave - 22715 Upton Road Plymouth, CA Open Saturday & Sunday 11-4 during winter Sutter Creek Tasting Room 73 Main Street Sutter Creek CA Open Thursday - Monday 11-5
