Villa Del Monte Winery

This is a great place to bring a friend and enjoy the local wines of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Meet the local wine makers, taste the wines, visit with locals and impress your friends that you knew where Villa Del Monte Winery was and how to find it. It's not hard because it is right off of Summit Road. Villa Del Monte Winery is a participant of California Corks Winery Experience and winemakers John Overstreet and Neil Perrelli welcome you. Be sure to check out their Cabernet Sauvignon, in fact, last I checked there were still a few 2012 & 2013 available at pretty reasonable prices. J. Rickards Vineyard & Winery

When we drove up we were greeted by 2 dogs and Jim the owner. The place is quaint and wine is phenomenal. Jim the owner took his time and explained the wine making process to our group, he even had us taste one of the grapes on the hillside. One of my favorite wines was the wine blend called "Sisters" which is made from the traditional Bordeaux varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petite Verdot and Malbec, all estate grown

Back Road Vines

Back Road Vines is located in beautiful Suisun Valley, California.  Hand picked grapes, trivia night, thirsty Thursday, wine and s'mores on Friday and more... this winery has a very active calendar of events and is well worth looking into for those who love activities surrounded by wine tasting (or vice versa).  They even have a Bocce ball court on the premises!

They pride themselves in following the "old school" art of winemaking and use small vessel fermenting along with stainless and French Oak barrel aging.  These wines have structure and balance.  As of this writing there is a $20 Tasting Fee, which includes a crystal logo BRV Glass and five samplings of their latest release.

They are open daily from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm -

Moon Mountain Vineyards

Moon Mountain Vineyard is a family-owned 286-acre property located high on the western side of the Mayacamas Mountains. Sixty-six acres of this rugged mountain terrain are devoted to organic vineyards. The property also serves as the home of Repris Wines. Nice red wines grown on the hilltop with near organic techniques. The syrah is very good and the cabernet sauvignon is usually blended nicely. In general their red wine tends to be rich in flavor with a nice finish.

Stanton Vineyards

The Stanton family has been growing grapes in the Napa Valley since 1947. They began making their own wine in 1999. For this first vintage and the next three they used grapes exclusively from our Oakville vineyard. In addition to the Oakville property, the Stanton family owns two vineyards in St. Helena. They presently grow seven different red-wine varieties which include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Petite Sirah and Mouvedre.

Nevada City Winery

More than a few small wineries have started in a garage, but we may be the only Winery to begin that way, move on to bigger and better quarters, and still be in a garage. Founded in 1980 in a small garage on the outskirts of town, in 1982 the Winery moved to its present location, the historic Miners Foundry Garage, on Spring St in downtown Nevada City. Remarkably, the Winery is located less than two blocks from where the original Nevada City Winery stood over a century ago. The Winery was begun by Allan Haley, a Nevada County native with a European wine education and a dream of bringing winemaking back to our region. In 1880 there were over 300 acres of grapes in the County. In 1980 when the Winery opened there was one small vineyard, recently planted. Twenty years later there are again well over 300 acres of grapes and the wine industry is flourishing once more.

Wine Garage

Everyone thought they were crazy. Selling wine in Napa Valley that didn’t have a 3 figure price tag? Selling wine in Napa Valley that was from those “other” wine growing regions? Helping people learn about wine who were novices? Suggesting a lesser expensive choice because the customer would have better enjoyment? Ludicrous they said!

California Cellars

They say, “Variety is the spice of life”, well we needed more spice! We are now growing and harvesting Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Petite Sirah, Gewurztraminer, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Some of these grapes will be put back into the wines for blending to add some complexity to our wines. Other grapes, like our Petite Sirah are going to be used exclusively on our award winning Select Harvest, that recently won a Double Gold, in the 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Contest.

Frog's Tooth Vineyard

Once upon a time, not so long ago, in a valley known more for cattle ranching than vineyards that the story begins. It was the Winter of 1999 when Frog's Tooth Vineyards began its life as a tadpole with the purchase of 67 acres of land in the Salt Springs Valley of Calaveras County. It slowly grew through infancy until the Spring of 2003 when it began its transition to adolescence with the planting of approximately 10 acres of premium wine grapes.
