Let's begin with what everyone goes to Healdsburg/Sebastopol for: the pinots. Dutton-Goldfield had four or five pinots when we tasted there, and they were all unique and delicious. They varied from the lighter, fruit-forward classic pinots to the richer, almost-cab pinots. All of them were good, but I particularly liked the Devil's Gulch, which was on the richer side of the spectrum.

At California Corks we love to meet the winemakers and become acquainted with the wines of those special little boutique wineries. We have been trying to find a way for those that join the California Corks Winery Experience can enjoy this same experience, to meet the winemaker or have access to some of these harder to find wines. We are glad to say that we have found a way to do so that allows for plenty of opportunity to do both. We are glad to introduce Ruthe Roberts Wine Collective is the first of its kind in downtown Saratoga. A multi-winery tasting room that is home to some of the best and most talented winemakers in California. The wines are offered in pre-arranged flights to allow guests to compare different wines and discover new favorites. The Ruthe Roberts Wine Collective provides a warm, casual elegance in the beautiful courtyard or grab a table in the tasting room. This is a place where wine lovers will find new wines to love, and where smaller wineries can showcase their wines and introduce them to consumers. MacFadden Vineyards sells and ship out of their tasting room affordable, delicious, easy to drink wines from grapes organically grown on their own nearby vineyard in Potter Valley. McFadden Vineyard Tasting Room also sells organic dried herbs and herb blends, and organic beef, from the Potter Valley farm. MaFadden's has a nice tasting room on Main Street in Hopland. Friendly server. We had a good time talking with him.

On a hillside overlooking Stags Leap District of Napa Valley in 1997, the Husic Family set out to realize a lifelong dream. Moving endless rocks and sculpting narrow terraces that cling to the mountain's edge, we planted three small vineyards which peacefully coexist with the region's wildlife. These rugged, rocky growing conditions, combined with careful farming methods, have yielded a limited amount of magnificent fruit.
The Solitude brand is owned by the Dreyer Wine Company. The Dreyer family has been farming for three generations, and has been producing wines in both Sonoma and Mendocino County for over thirty years. The Dreyer family produces the Dreyer Sonoma, Compass, Seabiscuit Ranch, and Il Cuore Wine Cellars wine brands.
Richard Litsch is the winemaker for the Solitude wines. Born and raised in California, Richard became interested in wine while attending the University of California, Davis. After obtaining his B.S. degree in 1983, he began work at Rombauer Vineyards. After two years in the Napa Valley, he was off to Australia, working a harvest and traveling extensively through both Australia and New Zealand’s wine country. Upon returning, Richard became Assistant Winemaker at Chalone Vineyard, and established Solitude in 1986.
